How to install the Microsoft loopback network adapter

Point of Success Caller ID uses networking technology to communicate caller information to order entry workstations. When Caller ID is used on a single computer, the computer must be plugged into a network device (like a network switch) or the Microsoft loopback network adapter must be installed.

Installing the Microsoft Loopback Adapter on Windows XP

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Add Hardware (Windows Searches for new hardware)
  2. Select Yes I have already connected the hardware
  3. Click Next
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the list and choose Add a new hardware device
  5. Click Next
  6. Select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)
  7. Click Next
  8. Choose Show All Devices
  9. Click Next
  10. Choose Microsoft on the left side of the Select Device window
  11. Choose Microsoft Loopback Adapter on the right side of the same window
  12. Click Next
  13. Click Next to begin installation
  14. Click Finish
  15. Restart the computer

Opening the Settings window and selecting the Workstation Communication tab in the Caller ID Server program will now display the Microsoft Loopback Adapter for selection in the available network connections list.
